A clean, adequate supply of water and properly treated
wastewater...
This is the business of J. R. Wauford & Company, Consulting Engineers,
Inc.
Since 1958, we have been assisting municipalities, utility districts and
industry in all facets of water and wastewater engineering. On the water
side, this often includes development new raw water sources and involves surface
impoundment and groundwater supplies. Examples include a 66-acre reservoir
in Livingston, Tennessee, a Caney Fork River Intake for Smith Utility District
(TN) and a new municipal well supply for Union City, Tennessee.
The design and construction management of new or expanded and
improved water treatment plants is also a major focus of J. R. Wauford &
Company. The 1991 completion of the expansion to 24.0 MGD of the water treatment
plant in Clarksville, Tennessee, and the 1999 expansion to 1.3 MGD of the water
treatment plant for the Bon Aqua-Lyles Utility District are examples of the
different sizes of more than sixty water treatment facilities designed over
the past forty years. Storage and distribution of the finished water is also
a major part of the engineering work we perform for our clients.
Facilities for collecting and treating wastewater are the other
major part of our business. Important considerations include specific industrial
wastes which need pretreatment, control of inflow and infiltration in sewer
systems, managing storm related flows, proper design, sizing and selection of
materials for the collection system and design of any needed pumping stations.
Finally, our job involves selecting the appropriate treatment process and then
designing a wastewater treatment facility capable of producing the needed quality
of effluent.

Approach
Our approach to providing engineering services is simple:
meet the needs of our clients. At J. R. Wauford & Company, we recognize that
professional services are what we offer. Only by working with our clients can
they be adequately served - after all, the client owns the system. Although
any engineer has an obligation to provide the best technical advice possible,
we also work hard at listening... and we hear you.
Time and again our clients want, demand and deserve engineering solutions and
facilities which are cost effective, energy efficient and easily operated and
maintained. Above all, solutions and facilities must get the job done.
In short,
facilities must work as intended and not bankrupt the client in the process.
Pure service encompasses everything we do on your behalf. It means being timely
in our response, properly identifying and understanding your real needs and
problems, devising the best technical designs possible, exercising rigid
quality
control procedures in design and construction, thorough monitoring of contractor
performance, seeing the job through to completion, instructing your operators
during start-up, and generally doing whatever it takes to serve and protect
your interests.
